67 (Q.O.W.W.Y.) Signal Squadron was formed 51 years ago on 1st January 1969 -  see enclosed extract from  the Queen's Own Warwickshire and Worcestershire Yeomanry Regimental Journal.

On the 31 December 1968, the Regiment ceased to exist in the form in which it had served since its reformation in May 1947 and the amalgamation of the Warwickshire Yeomanry with the Queen's Own Worcestershire Hussars on 1 November 1956.

However the long awaited Government plans to re-organise the Reserve Army included the formation of a Cadre  of Three Officers and five Yeoman charged with the maintenance of the Regiment in its most abbreviated form to provide  a framework on which it could be reformed and to preserve its identity in the Army List, within the Royal Armoured Corps.

By this means the long tradition of Volunteer Service, which had enabled the Regiment to survive the threat of disbandment on other occasions since 1794 was secured.

67 Signal Squadron was  initially recruited exclusively from the Yeomanry and retained the name of the Regiment in its official title.

The Drill Hall at Stratford Upon Avon has sadly now been demolished  and a housing complex built.

The story of the Regiment since 1794 can be found within the Warwickshire Yeomanry Museum.
